Due to the ongoing changes in the market, these workshop networks are now more important to GROUPAUTO than ever before. The number of Vehicles in Operation (VIO) continues to increase and includes both an aging car parc and new vehicles from centrally managed fleets. Advances in vehicle technology mean additional training and equipment requirements for workshops, while we are working in parallel to overcome limitations on access to vehicle information. Interestingly, we are also seeing increased competition from dealerships at the same time as potential cooperation opportunities with vehicle manufacturers.

The EUROGARAGE and TOP TRUCK Networks must continue to adapt to these changes as well as expand geographically so that our services are available to a wider range of customers. GROUPAUTO has determined that it is now time to bring in a specialist to oversee the continuing development of our networks, and I am happy to introduce Miguel Gavilanes as the new Director of Workshop Concepts at GROUPAUTO International. He will take over responsibility for the workshop networks as well as the development of international key account opportunities.

Miguel has over 20 years of experience in the automotive sector. During his time with Bosch, he held key roles including Senior Channel Marketing Manager, where he spearheaded the development of the Fleet & Intermediaries business. He was also the Bosch Workshop Networks Manager for Spain and Portugal as well as overseeing business development of the Retail and Truck channels in these markets. In his most recent role at LKQ Europe, Miguel contributed to the development of workshop formulas and solutions across Europe.

I asked Miguel about his perception of the EUROGARAGE and TOP TRUCK Networks from his previous perspective as a competitor.

Miguel stated, “The EUROGARAGE and TOP TRUCK networks have established themselves as leaders in the market, gaining significant recognition through strong support from GROUPAUTO members and well-regarded suppliers. Their tailored value propositions deliver exceptional benefits to workshop partners and network customers alike. By leveraging innovative digital services and solutions, they maintain a competitive edge in the industry. The success of these workshop networks is further amplified by effective collaboration among key stakeholders, including GROUPAUTO Members, Distributors, and Suppliers.”

I also asked Miguel about his priorities for the development of the GROUPAUTO networks. These included:

  • Strengthening the international presence of both EUROGARAGE and TOP TRUCK by leveraging synergies and best practices across countries and regions.
  • Prioritizing key projects to enhance the value proposition for customers
  • Accelerating the deployment of innovative service tools to improve workshop efficiency and customer satisfaction
  • Securing access to global business opportunities for the network partners

Miguel also stated, “By maintaining close collaboration with workshop partners and members, we ensure tailored implementation plans that address diverse market needs while fostering stronger relationships and mutual growth opportunities.”

I will continue in my role as Director of Technology for GROUPAUTO International, and I will work closely with Miguel to ensure that the systems and services we develop are aligned with the needs of our Workshop Networks. I am confident that the EUROGARAGE and TOP TRUCK Networks are in good hands, and I look forward to seeing the ongoing development of the GROUPAUTO workshop networks globally.
