Kyocera unveils camera-LIDAR sensor for autonomous driving

Kyocera Corporation has launched an innovative Camera-LIDAR sensor that integrates the optical axes of the camera and LIDAR into a single unit. This groundbreaking technology enables real-time, parallax-free data acquisition, ensuring precise long-distance obstacle detection vital for autonomous driving. By combining a high-resolution camera with LIDAR, Kyocera's sensor eliminates calibration delays typically caused by parallax in separate units. The integration provides efficient, accurate results even in complex environments and at high speeds, with the ability to detect objects as small as 30 cm from 100 meters away.
