Roland Berger study predicts shift in global automotive market by 2040

Roland Berger's Automotive Outlook 2040 study forecasts that China and emerging markets will account for 60% of global vehicle sales by 2040, driven by a shift away from Western markets. Sales will grow in regions like China, India, and Latin America, while Europe, North America, Japan, and South Korea experience stagnation. EVs are expected to make up 64% to 71% of global sales, with Europe and China leading in electrification. The report presents two scenarios: a pessimistic one where Chinese manufacturers dominate and an optimistic one where Western brands stay competitive through technological innovation and standardization.
