MAN opens battery production facility in Nuremberg

In November 2024, MAN inaugurated a 17,000 m² battery production facility in Nuremberg for heavy vehicles. Production will begin in April 2025, with an initial capacity of 50,000 batteries annually, potentially doubling by 2030. The project is backed by a €100 million investment from the Traton Group and €30 million from Bavaria, creating an estimated 350 jobs. MAN will be the first German manufacturer to mass-produce its own batteries, utilizing advanced technologies such as laser welding. By 2030, the company aims for half of its trucks registered in Europe to be electric.
