European Van Sales Fall Sharply as Diesel Remains Dominant
Europe’s light commercial vehicle (LCV) market declined sharply in 2025, with registrations down 8.8% to around 1.45 million units, according to ACEA. France, Germany, and Italy all recorded significant drops, while Spain posted double-digit growth. Diesel continues to dominate, accounting for 80.7% of sales despite a steep decline. Fully electric vans, though still a small segment, surged 68% to 161,700 units, lifting their market share to 11.2%. Hybrid vans also made gains, but overall electrification remains slow, underscoring the gap between regulatory ambitions and market readiness.
