Volvo Trucks to use low-emission steel

Starting in 2025, Volvo Trucks will increase the use of low-emission steel in its truck production, aiming to save 6,600 tons of CO2 equivalent. This initiative marks another step towards the decarbonization of road freight transport. The steel, known as “SSAB Zero,” is produced by the Swedish company SSAB from recycled materials using non-fossil electricity and biogas. According to the manufacturer, this process reduces CO2 emissions by 80% compared to conventional steel production using fossil fuels.
