Panasonic Develops Lighter, Higher-Capacity EV Battery
Panasonic plans to launch a “revolutionary” EV battery by 2027 that could extend driving range by 25%. The Japanese manufacturer has developed an anode-free cell design that increases energy density while reducing weight and cost.
In practical terms, the innovation could add roughly 145 km of range to a Tesla Model Y without increasing the size of the battery pack. Panasonic is also reducing nickel content to lower raw-material costs, though pricing implications remain undisclosed.
