European Truck Market Slows as Electric Growth Falls Short

New truck registrations in Europe fell 15.4% in the first half of 2025, according to ACEA. Germany (-27.5%) and France (-18.8%) led the decline, followed by Spain and Italy. Bus and coach registrations slipped 4.4%, showing sharp contrasts across countries.
Diesel continues to dominate truck sales with a 93.6% share, while electric trucks rose to 3.6% from 2.1% a year earlier—driven largely by growth in the Netherlands. Electrified buses now represent 21.6% of the market. Despite this progress, ACEA warns that adoption remains too slow to meet EU climate targets, citing limited infrastructure and high costs.
