EU Creates Task Force to Accelerate Truck Electrification

The European Commission has met with major truck manufacturers to establish a task force on accelerating electrification, led by Commissioner Wopke Hoekstra.
The group identified four priorities: expanding charging infrastructure, strengthening Europe’s battery industry, harmonizing regulations, and introducing financial incentives. Industry leaders stressed that cost remains the main obstacle, calling for EU-backed financing guarantees and toll exemptions to improve electric truck affordability.
