Box-less tolls

The electronic toll box is about to disappear. It will be replaced by a new version of the tachograph equipped with both a communication system allowing the opening of toll gates remotely, and a satellite positioning module. The Axxès company will be using a VDO link, which is a small device similar to a USB stick that plugs into the front of the tachograph, to transform the tachograph into a mobile electronic toll box in Europe. The VDO link will contain information from the carrier’s electronic toll collection contract, which is the subscription it has taken out depending on the countries in which the vehicle is traveling.
