Smart tachographs

Since August 2021, the new Version 2 smart tachograph (SMT2) has been mandatory for all newly registered commercial heavy goods vehicles. But given the delays in the availability of the devices, the International Road Transport Union is calling on the European Commission to recommend that member states grant a grace period until the end of 2023 to avoid blocking tens of thousands of new trucks and coaches.
