Continental and Aurora unveil autonomous truck prototype

At CES 2024, Continental and Aurora debuted a Peterbilt Level 4 autonomous tractor. This vehicle integrates Aurora's advanced autonomous driving software with Continental's state-of-the-art equipment, including lidars, sensors, automated driving control units (ADCUs), high-performance computers (HPCs), and telematics units. Notably, the truck also has a secondary computer as a fail-safe mechanism, ensuring continuous operation in case of primary system failure. Set for production in 2027, this autonomous truck is specifically tailored for the US market.
