New battery technology from Stellantis and Saft

The CNRS (French Institute of Technology), Stellantis, and Saft unveiled an innovative prototype energy storage battery integrating the functions of inverter and charger, replacing them with electronic conversion boards. This integration creates a more efficient battery, which improves the range of battery electric vehicles and is more reliable and less expensive. It also frees up space in the vehicle. The collaborative research project is known as IBIS, the ‘Intelligent Battery Integrated System’. The IBIS project team intends to make it available on Stellantis vehicles before the end of this decade.
