Bosch abandons Lidar development

The German equipment manufacturer Bosch has indicated that it is ending the development of its Lidar, after three years of work. This is a bad signal for the autonomous car market but leaves the field open to Valeo, who have been working in the field for a decade. Valeo considers Lidar as the keystone of the autonomous car: more effective than cameras and radars, Lidars can capture the environment of a vehicle, detecting objects, obstacles and estimating the distance by laser.
