Size and weight of cars have exploded in twenty years

Since the year 2000, the dimensions and weight of cars have experienced continuous inflation. In 22 years, models in Europe have lengthened by 20 cm while they have grown by 20%. According to an Inovev study, the average length of these cars has in fact increased from 4.16 m in 2000 to 4.36 m in 2022, an increase of 20 centimetres in twenty-two years. It is not just in length that cars have grown; the width has also increased by 10 cm between 2000 and 2022 from 1.71 m to 1.81 m. Height has also increased by 7 cm to 1.55 metres.
