Cars are getting wider

A recent study by the French NGO Transport & Environment (T&E) highlights a significant trend: cars have expanded in width in recent years. According to the organization, among the top 100 best-selling models in 2023, 52% now exceed 180 cm in width. The most recent models sold in Europe have seen an increase of three to five centimeters in width. This growth is primarily attributed to stricter safety standards, including pedestrian impact, frontal and side crash tests, as well as the widespread adoption of electric power.
