Stellantis invests in copper
Stellantis announced a $155 million investment in Argentina in a project to mine copper, a key component of electric car batteries. The group has acquired a 14.2% stake in the capital of McEwen Copper, a subsidiary of the Canadian mining company McEwen Mining. The Los Azules mine project plans to produce 100,000 tons of copper cathode with a purity of 99.9% each year from 2027 and, given the resources identified, the site could be exploited for at least 33 years.
